Guide to Ant-Man 3 & Ant-Man Collectibles

Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) has already had quite the journey, from his life of crime to hero (with some crime involved) in 2015’s Ant-Man, to having to choose sides (and be on the wrong side of the law again) in Captain America: Civil War (2016), dealing with that fallout and trying to re-connect with his daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson) in Ant-Man- and the Wasp (2018), only to get stuck in the Quantum Realm and reemerge after the Thanos snap in Avengers Endgame (2019), to help save the entirety of the universe. Yeah, you could say Scott has had a rough ride since taking on the mantle of Ant-Man.

First Ant-Man 3 Trailer

In the first trailer we learn that in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanina, Scott, Cassie, Hope Van Dyne (The Wasp) (Evangeline Lilly) and her parents, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) (who knows the terrain well), are all headed into the Quantum Realm to face unknown adventures. While there, they run into Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), who it appears will make a deal with Scott that goes horribly wrong.

Ant-Man 3 Rumors

Kang and the Quantum Realm play an awful lot with time travel, so it’s anything goes as to what might happen, or WHO might pop up. Rumors have swirled around the returns of Cap and Tony Stark, and we’ve now got an offspring of T’Challa The Black Panther in the MCU, so the possibilities are endless.

The other big surprise that eagle eyed viewers of the latest Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanina trailer caught, was the sight of MODOK making his first MCU appearance. MODOK is a character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby way back in 1967, as a villain who fought Captain America. His name is an acronym for Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing.

MODOK’s genesis in the comics is different from where the MCU takes him, so this time he’s the next phase of evolution for the Darren Cross character from Ant-Man, who became Yellowjacket (portrayed by Corey Stoll). MODOK is one of the most iconic designs in all of Marvel-dom, and though he’s appeared in various games and animated series, this is the first time he’ll be appearing on the big screen. Clearly getting sucked into the Quantum Realm did not agree with Yellowjacket.

In addition to the return of those characters, Randall Park returns as FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (who also appeared in the Disney + series WandaVision), and the great David Dastmalchian is back but this time not as Kurt, from the previous Ant-Man and Wasp outings, but as a new character named Veb.

Could this be a different incarnation of Kurt, or an entirely new character? Details are sketchy. But genre fans are probably most excited that Bill Murray is making his debut in the MCU as Krylar, governor of Axia in the Quantum Realm. He’s got a history with Janet Van Dyne and is most likely not to be trusted.

Ant-Man and Marvel Cinematic Universe Predictions

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanina is not only the first stop in Phase Five of the MCU, it’s also going to set up what’s to come in the Secret Invasion Disney + series, and further down the road, Avengers: Kang Dynasty. This film is being set up to change everything about where the MCU is going, so in many ways it seems like it will serve as the same kind of sea change that Captain America: Civil War did. Multiple characters and worlds coming together, a war on the horizon and the choosing of sides. We’ve got a long way to go to get to Avengers: Kang Dynasty, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanina will set up all the pieces.
